1. What specific clue can setting reveal about the theme of a short story?
In my opinion, setting is the base of the story. Without setting, there won't be any story. Characters conflicts and other events evolve around the setting. For example, In the story, "About Effie", setting was quiet important. It was very dark and gloomy which well fits the characteristic of Effie who is very weird. This shows that setting helps characters to be emphasized in the story. Also, setting of this story is important to conflict that Effie has. There wouldn't be any conflict because Effie was waiting for rainy and thundering night.
2. How does an author drop clues about character and how their actions lead you to the theme of a story?
It varies from every other author but mostly, they describe feeling and emotion of the main character. There is like sudden twist at the main characters mind and action. This can be a major clue for the theme of the story. For example, in "About Effie", there was a twist to the Neil's mind when he was feeling upset because Effie left. This led to a theme which is 'you may miss someone who you didn't like if they are gone'.
3. What is the strongest setting you have ever encountered in your own life(the place that has impacted you the most). Describe this place and ponder if God revealed anything about himself or his truth in this place
Strongest setting I ever had in my life was church I went to when I was in U.S. It impacted me the most because it helped me to get closer to God. Unlike other place, church that I went to was so holy. Everybody is praying and trying to connect themselves with God. God revealed himself in the church with the bible. I think God blessed every each one of people in that church.
4. Who is a "character" in your life( a real-life person) you admire? Why do you admire this person(be specific and name the traits you admire)
I admire my parent because they love me anytime and anywhere. They are with me when I'm alone and they enjoy with me when I'm happy. They cry with me when I'm sad and they help me when I'm having hard time. They provide me protection and shelter.
